“All the world’s a stage, …”
Once again, we were delighted to welcome the White Horse Theatre to Holstenschule, Neumünster. Neither freezing temperatures nor snow or sleet could stop the travelling actors from performing three different plays for three different age groups in our school cafeteria—ensuring that every student at Holstenschule could enjoy a journey into another world on stage.
Students in Years 5 and 6 watched—and actively took part in—Pirates of the Seas, a play full of lively slapstick, humour, action, and interactive moments. By the end, even our teacher Mr Wagner had been kidnapped fortunately he was safely returned – thanks goodness!

Sticks and Stones was performed for Years 7, 8 and 9. This play tackled the issue of bullying, addressing the difficulties victims face – finding help, as well as the toxic role of bystanders. The students followed the performance with great focus and fascination, which speaks not only for the high quality of the acting but also for the exemplary behaviour of the audience.
The most complex and demanding performance was an adaptation of The Great Gatsby. The novel itself is challenging, and the task was made even more impressive by the fact that only four actors played all the different characters. Nevertheless, they won over the audience with an outstanding performance, using distinctive accents and iconic features to clearly portray each role.

All in all, we are very happy to have hosted the White Horse Theatre at our school and are already looking forward to welcoming them back in two or three years.
